Hooded Lid Eye Makeup

The Upside-Down Smoky Eye: Perfect For Those Of Us With Hooded Lids

Finally, a high-drama eye-makeup look that those of us with eyelid issues can wear!

Having hooded eyes myself I know the challenges faced. I’ve tried different makeup tutorials for hooded eyes, and to tell you the truth, I’m still trying to figure this out myself. Whenever I put eyeliner or eyeshadow on, I have two big problems: it smudges as soon as I open my eyes, half of it ending up on my brow bone, and once my eyes are open, you can’t really see any of the makeup I applied anyway. So what’s the point?

It’s kind of a bummer--and I haven’t even mentioned how insanely creased and oily my eyelids are.

Here is the perfect eye makeup look for girls with hooded eyes and other eyelid problems.

A clean, soft lid with a smoked-out look on the lower lash line? That’s right! If you’re looking for a sultry yet subtle twist on the stunning smoky eye, look no further than this inversed smoky eye tutorial. I don’t mean to turn your world upside down — just your smoky eye!

Step 1: Apply an eye shadow primer to the top eyelid, and then dust with loose powder to set.

Step 2: Apply Lasting Creme Eyeliner in Slate to the lower lash line, then add Soft Touch Eye Pencil Eyeliner in Blackout. Blend the two eyeliners together with a smudge brush, or our Makeup Artistry Eyes #5 Brush (Eyeliner).

Step 3: Apply a smudge-proof black eyeliner, like Lasting Creme Eyeliner in Black, to the waterline of both the top and bottom lids.

Step 4: Use an eye shadow blender brush, like our Makeup Artistry Eyes #3 Brush (Contour) to work a soft, warm shadow into the crease of the top lid and a lighter shadow to line the brow bone. Try Harvest & Ice Eye Shadow.
